I think pastel is a lovely medium for portraiture. Here are some examples. I painted the nude this week. I painted he portrait of the little Spanish girl, Maria, because I wanted to paint a young girl with dark hair and big brown eyes typical of Andalucia. As you can see, my granddaughters, whom I painted when they visited last Spring, have blue eyes.
